Your 8.8:1 pistons are not going to be of great effect to any lag in spool - the majority of lag stems from the turbine size being improperly matched to the motor displacement.

It explains in great detail about how to properly setup a turbocharging system from the ground up. It will eliminate any "hearsay" and bullshit advice that typically floats around forums. See if you can rent it from a library or something if you do not want to buy it.
