WTF, I'm not sticking up for the guy, but how do you know it's not his bike and he was trying to sell it? He could have had it on CL and someone came and took a "look" at it and then decided they wanted it and didn't want to pay so they stole it.
Give some more information on the bike and we'll all keep an eye out.
