hks cams- $340 each
hks valve springs - $150
hks cam gears - $300
then i will rebuild the top end myself on another small port 4a head. i have the hook up for P&P from previously working at CCH.
the crank and rods will cost me about $250
another block from the jyard
the pistons will be the most expensive thing in the block for me. i dont even know which ones i want to get, i dont want anything more than 12.5:1.
then intake will be a 20v itb and adapter plate set up.
whole build will be cheaper and easier than swaping a 3sgte. then i have little shit like tranny and clutch, which will just be another stock trans and just a stage one clutch from a local custom clutch manufacturer. all in all i figure this build will be about 3K in drivetrain and $1500 in body shit.
your going to spend all that money to have a slow car? why?
grab a 3sge from a celica gt. $250 with accessories at lkq with core charge and crap. run a mhg and arp studs, buy an ebay turbo mani, decent used turbo, fmic kit from ebay, ms2 setup(less then $700 with wideband for this engine), some 700+cc/min injectors(this way they wont need upgraded again later), and a walbro 255lph pump. the stock internals should hold ~300rwhp no problem. and later you can build the bottom end with forged rods/pistons and the head can be p&p as well, plus they make cams, oversized valves, dual valve springs etc.. for the 3s.
and this here

shows your lazy and/or unknowledgeable. prolly both. even if you wanted to wire the stock 3s electronics( why when standalones are so much better and so cheap), it is stupid simple to wire in. you have to connect the b+, switched 12v lines, and some grounds. then the engine runs. maybe 6-10 wires to have it running. then to get the gauges working its another 3-6 wires tops. if you go megasquirt and build a new harness. you get rid of all the extra crap t hat isnt needed and can keep the stock distributor or go coil on plug. id go coil on plug myself, but if you want to keep it simple go with the distributor.
if your going to bother building the car, you need to do it right the first time. 4a is fine for a daily driver that you want good gas mileage from, but if your wanting to go fast, it is not the answer. its sooooooooo much cheaper to do a 3s swap for the same power as youd get doing all that work to the 4a. the toyota motor atlantic 4a's made a whopping 170hp. a 95 3sgte makes 245hp STOCK! doing a t3/t4 turbo with standalone on a 3sge should get you over 300rwhp easily.
