I have personally worked at midas AND just brakes (midas in orlando and the just brakes in Palm harbor off 19 and the one that used to be off 19 in clearwater). I can also tell you that BOTH places train their technicians to break stuff on customers cars during the tear down for the inspection and make it look like it a brake problem. My favorite is when they cut the dust boot on the caliper piston and put brake fluid on it to make it look as if your calipers are leaking and locking up. I have also dealt with them numerous times when I refused to screw up a customers car and they tried pulling the whole "pay us or the car wont come off the lift" routine. They have no legal grounds to keep the car but they will tell you they are legally obligated not to put the car back together until repairs are made because they are liable if you drive off and something fails....needless to say I no longer work at either of these places because of their shady dealings.
