Fail

First off, if he had someone else paint his car he probably lacks both the skill and equipment to properly wet sand and buff his vehicle.

Second, after buffing the car there is absolutely NO need to wax the car. The buffing compound will more than suffice for a protective coating for six months or so. All the wax will do is prevent the clear coat from properly out-gassing.

Third, you have no idea what kind of materials were used, if this was a single stage or base/clear job, how many layers of clear are on the car, etc.

What if it's a single stage job? Do you know how hard it would be for someone with NO experience to properly buff a single stage paint?

What if it's a base/clear job? Have you mic'd the paint to determine how thick the clear is? Do you know if there is enough clear on the car to be able to sand the orange peel out of it without sanding right through the clear?

Do you think that buffing the car will make hazy clear magically clear up? If whoever painted it was not experienced enough to know how to adjust their gun to eliminate the orange peel do you think that they knew the proper flash times and thickness requirements for the clear?

There is a good chance that the clear isn't glossy because it was dry sprayed and then the painter tried to fix it by hammering the clear coat down wet and heavy and ended up orange peeling it in the process.

If that's the case there really is no fixing it.

With that said, Tlassiter, you sir, need to have an experienced painter take a look at your vehicle and assess the damage. Maybe even post some pictures.

Also, if you posted up where your car was painted, i.e. Maaco, Econo, a garage, someone's backyard, etc. along what brand of materials were used, if it was a single stage or base/clear job, and how long it has been painted you might be able to get a straight answer.
