So I discovered why my 94 GT vert bottoms out and scrapes. I had thought that my springs were too extreme for the car, but I was wrong. The springs are Steeda Sport Springs 555-8200 which seam to be a really nice springs. They drop the car just 1 - 1.25 inches which is normal to me. I thought they were at least 2" drop springs.
Instead it seems the K member itself is not hitting the car, but some poorly made k-member brace is the culpret. See the picture below, it looks pretty banged up. It sits about 2 inches lower then the rest of the car and the MM C/C kit is incorrectly installed (missing a spacer on each side).
The shocks are in decent shape, but I will just replace them with some newer mach1 tokico shocks that I have. I plan to keep the steeda springs and remove the k-brace. I'll order a new one to replace it.
The other, minor issue, is the tire size. I have 245/40/17 tires, but the OEM size is 245/45/17 which is a slightly higher side wall.
The other thing I learned is that my Momo rims are 17x8 and I would say the offset is better suited toward a front driving car. Someone put 5mm spacers to help with this matter, but they sit s bit inboard for my taste though I like the design.
Questions.
Do you think I should keep the Steeda Sport Springs or use the 04 Mach1 Springs?
What sort of brace would be a good replacement without costing to much. I saw one on Maximum Motorsports website for $90 new.
