Take a voltmeter or test light and measure from the large wire on starter to ground. If it lights or you have 12volts cable from battery is good.
Turn key to ON position
and measure for 12 volts on the small wire. Do you have it? if yes starter is probably bad. If no move to ignition switch.
With small wire(solenoid) off of starter and ignition switch on take a 12gauge wire and jump from Pos+ on battery to where the small wire was on starter. if the starter is good car should start.

Does your car have a clutch safety switch...?
