You might wanna tell your friend to check craigslist for FC prices without an engine. They just arent selling much right now and for a grand... thats a lil higher than the other Fcs that arent selling without an engine. Might have better luck parting it out, and selling the rest to a scrap or Junk yard. Best of luck with the sale tho. Great cars, shame its not on the road.
