take the motor out, take the cover plate off, see if the plastic balls are gone..... Sounds like to me thats what it is. You can replace said balls for 10$ at local auto parts place. If you cant find the replacment balls. Go get 3 10mm nuts, and use those instead. As long as you hear the motor humming, theres no need to replace it.
