Default The 4Rocker: build pictures

I just finished a four month job to the 4Rocker, thought I would share. Went through the suspension, rebuilt the supercharger, and completed a tranny valve body upgrade.

-The Sonoran Steel suspension system is upgraded so that it performs better in the dirt, so don't think this is a lift kit. Many components were hand built due to no suspension kit readily available.
-Rear coils from a FJZ80 Landcruiser, front coils from a 2000 V8 tundra. Both of these vehicles are heavier than the 4Runner, but still incorporate different left/right spring lengths like the 4Runner (heavier drivers side on both front and rear).
-The paint used is Dupont Enron polyurathane fire engine red over zinc chromate primer. These are the same materials used for aircraft due to high chemical resistance.
-The Bilstein shocks were custom built to specs according to Sonoran Steel specs. How did Sonoran Steel get Bilstein to make custom shocks just for the 3rd generation 4runner running the 1.2 suspension system? According to Steve, the owner, "Easy, just give them $20,000". At first I was skeptical, but the 4Rocker drives so easily over bumps like curbs that you don't even know what you just drove over. It's really amazing. I guess that is what 10 years of R+D in Arizona and Utah gets you.
-Brakes were swapped. Brembro slotted rotors, 2000 Tundra Calipers.
-Skidplate/bellypan is 3/16" thick, extends to the fuel tank. Each section weighs 60 lbs and can be used as a jacking point in a pinch.
-The rear axle lower links are built from 1/4" DOM tubing (common weak/damage point of stock suspension, even on newer model 4Runners and the FJ Cruiser) and have spherical bearings at the ends to allow the rear suspension to flex like mad.
-Yes, that is a locker on the rear axle.
-4.56 Yukon gears were installed because of tire size swap. 4.88 is the more popular choice with the Toyota crowd, but so are a minimum of 33" tires.
-Panhard bar was lengthened to center rear axle from new suspension, rear bumpstops were lowered and swaybar raised for the suspension
-TrailReady beadlocks are custom made, one-off set. Tires are GoodYear MTR, similar to those on military HUMMERS.

Enjoy:
