A little hint. I see that you don't have access to a router. So, to make those edges and general layout a little cleaner (good first stab BTW), swing by my shop next time and buy a yard of thin foam backing. You can adhere the vinyl to it and the foam to the box and it will cover any imperfections and make the overall job look really professional.
I have also seen some DIYers just cover over carpet with the vinyl with suprisingly good results also.
didn't have a router had a jig. It was perfect actually the leather started coming up from the heat as the glue failed.. the only thing that was a little bad was around the circle for the sub the beauty panel was 1/8" and it started to splinter the circle was fine there were just grooves from where the splinters popped up.. not a good idea to use wood THAT cheap... I had carpet to use as padding to make it really nice but I don't keep things long enough and didn't care THAT much so i didn't use it.. It came out VERY nice for my first shot with wood. all the tools used were a circular saw, pencil, ruler, jig saw, wood glue, spray foam for small gaps, and a jimmy rigged protractor for 18"
