Next time, unbolt the top nut with the struts still bolted on. The spring will shoot down, and that's all. Just stand on the hood/fenders when you do it, to make sure to not lose any toes.
how do you loosen the strut bolt while standing on the hood...assuming the hood would be closed while standing on it.
