While acess to the bottom may be easy, can he get in there to weld all the way around?

I'd tack weld a small bolt or something to the piece that's crushed in, heat the tube up and pull it back into shape. May take a bit to get it all back decent, but little ripples won't hurt flow and it may be much easier than patching.
