I'm just picturing the American staple of greasy, messy, fattening food covered in thick sauce. Didn't think it would be popular anywhere but America. Also, our roads were made for the cars, yours were older, and made for buggies and carriages, then simply paved for the cars when they came along, so ours are generally straighter, hence, less need for handling capabilities. We're catching up, though.
A lot of the US interstate system was modeled after the German Autobahn after WWII. But yeah, a lot of the smaller, rural roads in Germany/Europe are narrow with tight turns.
