swapped all my parts from the 99 camaro to the 98 vette block:
oil pan/baffle/pump/pickup
the new timing chain/gears
some new rear main and rear cover gaskets
SLP balancer, water pump, powersteering, starter, alt, coils, some sensors....
all thats left is intake, bolt up trans, and re-install and see how she runs.
there was definitely glitter/metal shavings in the pan, that was fresh as ever when installed. so yea, rod bolts arent being touched. but funny enough, the 98 motor is the weaker rod bolt of the LS1 motors. Yay for having a no win scenario!!
I was talking to my coworker about your ordeal. He mentioned you have to cycle the arp rod bolts. meaning you have to torque then tighten torque then tighten several times. good thing you kept that block. and at least now you can build a crazy motor with the camaro block
