OP, double check that the throttle plate is fully closed and that the throttle cable can fully extend. I had an SR that the throttle was being held open slightly and it took me forever to figure out why it was idling so high. Make sure the screw behind the throttle plate allows it to close all the way as well.
I can't imagine it being too hard. =/ Anyway, my idle was at 3K RPM for the longest time until I figured out that the throttle cable was stuck on something like NeedCa's.
