ECU is incredibly easy to replace, you can do it yourself. Pull up the carpeting around the center console, under the radio and unbolt it. Un-plug and then plug in the new one. That simple. The only was to see if you need a new ECU since you arent noticing any problems is to open it up and see if any of the caps are leaking. Again, only 4 screws to open it up i believe. Good luck
