That is just because the vtec motors are more efficient and carry the torque higher in the rshared_pm band. Since hp is function of torque and rshared_pm and the vtec motors make more torque higher in the band it translates to a wider margin between the peak numbers. Lb for Lb on the same turbo the vtec motor will make the same or more torque and alot more HP.

I have an ls turbo hatch stock motor at 278whp n 250tq... On a vtec motor it would be like 278whp n 210tq...
