First I think you should slow down or dont follow so closely (Tail gating). Then you wont be running up curbs. I keep the ball and hitch inserted in my truck 24/7 just for people who like to tale gate.
The oil pressure gauge in Sn95 and New Edge Mustangs are nothing but an idiot light. So long as the gauge comes on you are fine. The sending unit and the gauge itself only have 3 positions. High low or off. It does not function like a normal gauge that actually changes with the oil pressure.
As stated,.. if your fluid was lost and the steering grew hard so too would your brake pedal. It would be hard as a rock.
99% of the bolts on 94 - 04 Mustangs are all Metric.
If the fitting on the steering rack has been damaged,.. odds are the rack will need to be replaced. If it just damaged the line then replace the line.
As for the oil sending unit,.. its just above where the oil filter is. Check the wires there. If the gauge moves even the slightest bit after you start the engine,.. your fine. You have at least 20 - 30 PSI. In order for the oil pressure gauge to drop off the pressure needs to drop below 20psi,.. in which case the Check engine and oil lights would come on and the gauge would fail to function. There is a pretty good write up on the subject on the Corral.
