Default 94 coupe timing, 180 out

i was driving in to work this morning when my timing belt snapped. i get all the parts and got it back together again. it is now feeling sluggish. would the car run 180 degrees out of timing?

i only ask because the cam sprocket seemed to be on upside down. the distrib was pointing to the #1 cylinder (forward and down a little), the pointer for the back cover was pointing up, this leads me to belive the sprocket is on upside down. I turned the crank so that the #1 Cyl was at TDC. then assembled.

now when you come from a stop and accelerate, it feels very sluggish.

i have not tore it down again yet. i am thinking i may be a tooth off on the belt, but i am unsure at this point.

any advise?
