dont you remember the section in SCC where they tested all the Boost controllers?
I saw it on a thread in here... but i remember actually having the mag and seeing the boost curves.
and the worst spike was on the manual boost controller of course but the AVC-R was 2nd worst but it held the boost pretty steady... the SBC-ID and the Profec B (original recipe) held the boost rock steady though. anyways, it could have just been that the AVC-R was improperly setup like you said... but i remember them saying they spent ALONG time setting it up and tuning it... alot longer than the SBC-Id and of cousre the Profec B. im not sure if they did get it tuned properly or not...
the thing that scares em about spikes like that is the risk of detonation when the boost goes that high... and then scares the ECU... and then the ECU "turtle necks" the timing... and youre whole run suffers due to that spike. course, it depends on the car's ECu and how agressive it is and how adaptive it is (if at all).
i think id budget ~ $300-$350 for an EBC... so ill see what i can get for that much... ya know?
