58mm? What? Maybe learn a little more. Then get into really wide angle stuff. Cause more than likely, you will be getting some interesting results with the wide angle cause it does take practice to learn how to use it due to how wide they can get and you can seriously make shots look horrible, very quickly. You have to learn how to stand and angle yourself properly to make a really wide angle lens work for each picture.
Majority of the time though, look at Sigma 10-20's, Tokina and Tamron have decent ones, but they will all get up in the near $600 range lately for the newer models.

i have a feeling that hes talking abouth the threading on the end of the lens. like for filters and shit cause im pretty sure the kit lens from cannon is 58mm thread and my kit lens is 52mm (nikon)
they make those cheap ones that fit onto the end of your lens. like $40 on ebay.
