For the last 3 months Nero and Bottle had been harassed to make a showing at the NSCRA event. And 28 days ago they handed down the final verdict; the supra was to make a showing in the December 6th NSCRA final race of the year. At that point it was time to call John Brown with the NSCRA, who was more than happy to hear the decision; he committed to help in any way he could to get us there, and to make our NSCRA experience a pleasant one, and we can’t thank him or his organization more for all the support to let Titan Motorsports add another page into the history of import drag racing.
Travel arrangements were made and Brett White, Crew chief, mechanic and tuner of the Titan Motorsports race team was on his way to Orlando Florida, needless to say he was happy to hear the old Copper bomber was going to be pampered a bit before a race, something that hasn’t happen in many years.
With the owners committed, the race organization in tune, and the tech on board, it was just a matter of set our goals and work the marketing angle of things to be able to get as much support as possible. The goal was simple, beat our previous 7.71 record. With a few emailed proposals and phone calls we were able to get the support from many companies that made it possible for us to achieve our goal. Without getting further into it we have to give thanks to those companies:
Mickey Thompson Tires
XS Power batteries
Nitrous Express
Precision Turbo
Strange Engineering
And of course our sponsors that support our race program :
ARP
Adell Wiggins
ATI Super Damper
Borla Headers
Ferrea
Fidanza
Fluidyne
Innovate Motorsports
JE Pistons
Motec
NGK
PST
RC Engineering
Ringers Gloves
Y Promos
The game plan wasn’t too hard to figure out for Brett, has wanted to make changes for a long time. Add a Wastegate to the intake pipe so that boost is more controllable off the starting line, install a CO2 system to be able to control boost down the track, and rewire the 8+ year old system that was way out dated. He was convinced that we those changes the car would beat its previous record, and if there is something everyone around him knows, is that he is never wrong about this sort of thing.
We arrived to the NSCRA event untested in this new setup, and our first run of the day had already matched our best 1/8th mile run to date. The day looked promising. The second run the car achieved an incredible benchmark in drag racing a 4 second 1/8th mile run, unfortunately the car shut off @ the 1000ft mark. So the third run was to be the charm, and it was. 7.66@188.44mph, on a nitrous bottle that ran empty 1000ft into the run. But the promised was delivered. And the whole Titan Motorsports organization would like to thank the NSCRA Organization for letting us be a part of their event, our sponsors, and every one of the hundreds of fan’s that welcomed us back into the import scene with open arms. Stay tuned for more drag racing updates
