The Eclipse is a sport compact the is derived from a sports car, the Lancer Evo. Early eclipses shared the 4G63 and AWD layout of EVO's. While not true sport cars, early Eclipses clearly showed their sport car heritage. Now it can be argued that AWD is not fit for sport cars, but that argument dismisses the entire family of rally cars as not being sport cars. However, new eclipses are simply econo boxes with a manual gear box. Mitsubishi is retarded for not putting the Rally Art Eclipse Concept into production.
