Hi, I came across this thread on Google. Anyways I wanted to chime in on my truck to give you a idea what needs to be done.
I have a 1989 2wd Toyota pickup truck. single cab short bed.
Mods
r32 Nissan skyline rb20det engine swap
4:10 gear ratio in rear , welded diff
all new sway bar bushings all the way around as well as end links for them.
The front 240sx sway bar in rear of truck custom mounted.. biggest improvement.
New shocks all the way around
f1spec bucket seat with 240sx rail and slider.. bolted in but 1 hole.. fabbed a bracket.
nrg deep dish steering wheel
17x7 Chrysler 300 steelies 5x114.3
modified front steering stop to get more angle up front
Things I have problems with..
The truck still has too soft of suspension.. even with 215 hp to wheels at 10 psi no intercooler.
The steering ratio is so bad. My 240sx is 2.25 from lock to lock. The truck with modified angle is almost 6 turns from lock to lock.
I will be installing a 2:1 steering quickener or my other option is to run s13 240sx front steering rack and suspension with custom strut mounts welded off the frame for s13 coilovers up front. I would also run the 240sx irs subframe and coilovers in back. This would basically make it a 240sx lol.
Anyways I'm trying to get away with the straight axle with leaf springs and torsion up front for now.
I don't see how I would have ever been able to drift a 22r.. especially with the crap steering angle/ratio and stock gearing with open diff. Good luck to you and a project like your trying to build take a lot of work.
