No, it's not the most cost-effective solution. But if I'm reading it right, 6k for the total package, not just the engine work, it's not terrible. Plus, it comes with brake upgrades and whatnot, so you wouldn't have to go for the top of the line track model, it would work just as well on the ~28 enthusiast or whatever they call the lowest model that comes with lsd.
If you're just talking straight line, no, the 350z isn't going to compare with an ls1 camaro, lower purchase price and more power gain similar money in mods. But looking at those numbers, a custom turbo setup that would probably be more like a 1/3 the cost could conceivably have it into the low 12's or even high 11's on dr's and at a real track. Most of those magazines usually just test the acceleration on a straight section of whatever track they're testing on, they don't take it to an actual prepped 1/4 mile. Running higher boost, with more traction, with a good grippy surface equals a much better time. Low 12's would be good enough to take out quite a few v8's on this site.
