Your profanity and grammar tell me that you're definitely not the most intelligent and the fact that you were able to collect your thoughts and poorly arrange them into a sentence (using the term loosely here) is nothing short of astonishing. So let me try to put this real simple for you.
Your "Guy" is shooting with a Canon Digital Rebel XT, a fairly pricey camera, and Interfit studio lights, fairly pricey as well (not sure the exact lights but still studio lighting) both of which are capable of making great photos yet he ends up with point and shoot quality photos that could be bested by a cell phone camera. That tells me that he had the money to drop on the equipment to call himself a photographer, but never actually learned how to use it and if he is "just learnin" he should at least know the basics, which aren't displayed in the least. Unless he just got his camera that day, there's no excuse.

Considering the gear that was used to take the shots, yes, yes I am.

Due to your double negative you have stated that your equipment will always work for you, but i get what you were trying to say and no, just no. If you are having issues due to defect, that is understandable and out of your hands, but aside from that your equipment will work for you if you know how to make it work for you. Also, If all you had was a single studio light working you should have been able to come out with something better than you did. If you were not going "all out" and by this you mean, not trying then i don't understand why. Your camera is out, your lighting is out, why not do the best you can with it? If this is the best you could get with the gear you have at your disposal, i suggest you start learning how to actually use it and not just click your shutter and pray you get something somewhat recognizable.
