I am Proud Prelude, and H22 owner. The the car and the motor. Its is a work and progress, and will never truly be done.
I will all so be the first to tell you to go with a B18, or LS VTEC, whichh is pretty much the same thing as a B18.
Why you ask?
Though the H22, has 200hp I think around 168lbs TQ. It doesnt' respond very well to Mods, not like the B18,
The B18 also have more potential, and has better after market support. The only way your gonna see 250WHP with an H22 is if you boost, or go nitrous, but for N/A It will cost a hell of a lot of money. That is if it is even possible to make that Power N/A, and still be Daily drivable..
Also you said you wanted a good all around car, Well the H22 is Bigger and heavier. It would make for a good Drag car, but would be a little Front heavy if you wanted to AutoX.
One thing that I do hate about the H22 is its Cable Shifted Transmission. Makes it feel sluggish, and a short shift adapter, doesn't really do all that much. Where the B-Series are rod shifted, Everything is solid and precise, and you can get a true Short shift kit with it.
If you want More power and tq with good after market and would also keep the car lighter, go with the B18, Or even a B20. Basicially an LS VTEC except you use the 2 liter block from a CRV. .
Just my .02
Dan
