If he's not worried about max HP, I'd definitely get flowmaster mufflers. Others may be worth slightly more HP, but nothing sounds like a mustang with flowmasters.

A gear will give him a HUGE seat of the pants improvement, something ANYONE owning a V8 Mustang will want.
