A real "rat rod" is a cheaply done hot rod. Ususally made from parts from junk yard and old signs for sheet metal. Looks cool if done right:






But that link may be that shitty cultural thing that is popular in california where kids take there riced out honda and make the hood rusty or break the glass on purpose. Or put thousands into the car and put it on old rusty wheels...
