hey im just a noob here but why does your fender and front bumper have a thingy on it?

my front bumper mount broke off due to a basketball accident and the side stock out a lil so i had to screw it in, in a different location to attatch it securely but your way looks like it would work to.

is that the reason you have yours on too or no?
