It think it makes a great deterient.

It sure as hell would cut down on "repeat offenders".

I grew up in SC. My grandfather ran the Anderson County Farm until he died.. It used chain gang labor. 5 years hard labor aint no shit to take lightly. I grew up being there for weekends and such.

It could be a rough place sometimes.

It supported the county home (old folks home), kind of a county welfare, before the great "free" federal money got started.

I still have his Remington .30 cal M1 carbine. The National Gaurd issued him and all the gaurds them during the "race roits" of the 60's. (and about 1400 rounds of full metal jacket still in the boxes)
