emo is right...the MSD DIS series is for Distributorless Ignition Systems (hence the DIS-x name). The DIS-2 controls 2 coil pack systems (most 4-cylinder imports) and the DIS-4 controls 3 and 4 coil pack systems (6-8 cylinder engines...ex: 4.6L Mustang etc.).

They have some progressive timing control (Progressive retard Max RPM retard) MSDs Soft-Touch Max. Rev-limiter and a Staging Rev-limiter (stutterbox off the line between gears). Also has the standard multiple spark discharge below 3000 RPM (I think its 3k?).
