When I was at the BMW dealership, we had a huge Mini autocross group that had service done on special Saturdays by our head Mini tech. They all loved the V700's, but they all bought them shaved. This was two years ago, and I do not recall if they had any issues with chunking (I am sure at least one didnt get them shaved, but I dont remember if he had any issues or not).

All the competitive guys shaved em. You gotta pay to play...
