As Barry said the 3 series cars have too high of an offset for use on an e34 without spacers. e39 wheels can be used with hubcentric spacers to drop the centerbore from 74.1 to 72.56. e38 wheels will be a direct bolt-on but tires will probably be a bit too large. A cheap upgrade are the 16" e38 (7 series) wheels. I had a set of staggered style 32's (well... i actually still have them and am selling them) but there is a common 55mph+ shake that comes when running the hubcentric rings and it got to be too much of a pain to me.
