protip:driving in a straight line does not equal driver skill. most real drivers would laugh in your face if you told them to come out to a drag strip to "test your skills" in other words...lrn2corner.
i drive an 88 mustang gt and an 08 nissan Z, i know imports and domestics have their ups and downs...usually i'd bring my stang out to a straight line track because...well thats what it is made for but it's people like you that make me want to bring out my stock z and shut up the muscle heads that think their mustang gt with an x pipe and flowmasters is god's gift to the drag strip.
You say ignorance pisses you off.
Well,.. it pisses me off too. You are ignorant to say Mustangs were made for straight line racing. Mustangs, Camaro's, Trans Am's, And all of the older cars that were originally part of the Pony car class, AMC Javalin, Baracuda, Challenger, etc were not made for Straight line racing. The term Pony car was made because these cars were as numble as a Pony. These car were the originators of SCCA Trans Am racing. Road course cars. Not drag cars. Guys used them for drag racing because they were lighter then the other larger cars that were typically used in drag racing. All of those cars are sporting front wheel drive today,. the pony cars have remained rear wheel drive,.. so its only natural that they get used for drag racing. But to say they are designed for drag racing,.. you couldnt be farther from the truth. That is the common ignorance and mis-information that flows among the younger crowd these day because you guys honestly dont know. Sad really.
