welcome to TR . i have a 91 EF hatch but it is no longer stock .
first thing to put your $ into is putting that car on lockdown to keep it safe!
i would say that if you drove it from CA to FL then that car is doing fine. My 1.5 SOHC dual point engine had over 200k on it and when we took it out (engine swap) the carbon wiped off the pistons. So if she took care of it you should be good to go.
There are many good shops that do performance work in Tampa. Before you do anything, plan what you want out of the car. Design your plan, figure out your budget, talk to people, find out who is who and what their rep is.
There are a ton of deals out there right now. Our Honda/Acura Parts For Sale forum is full of them.
Enjoy the site.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.
