No, my point is that "pro" and "drifter" in the same sentence is laughable. But beyond that, maybe we are going about this the wrong way. I would imagine that the stretching tires onto wheels too wide for the car fad came from one of the three following scenarios:

1. Said gangster idiot wanted to say "YO I GOT 11 INCH WIDE WHEELS ON MY BENZ", but didn't have the extra $236 to put the correct size tire on, so he went smaller against the tire shop's advice and bam, we have the stretch fad.

2. Said gangster idiot wanted to say "YO I GOT 10" WIDE WHEELS ON MY CIVIC", but they literally would not fit without stretching the tire and adjusting the camber to ridiculous amounts.

3. Said gangster idiot wanted to put one of his illegitimate kids to sleep in his rear wheel when he was at the car show so he needed a wide wheel with tons of dish; see #1 and #2 for details.

Its no different than the origins of hip-hop clothing, you can't steal stuff in khaki pants and a fitted shirt. But nowadays even if you aren't in the business of petty theft, wearing pants around your knees and shirts 6 sizes too big is 'cool' even though nobody knows why.
