The real distance
Tonight, Viper Guy and I walked the length from start to finish of his particular race with a certified measuring wheel. The distance came out to 1369.7 feet exactly. Therefore the races that have been run there for years are 50 feet longer than a 1/4 mile. I was wrong in my assumption of 180 feet long due to 3 different trip meters being off. It's too bad no one took me up on my $500 bet because you would have been that much richer. Too bad, maybe next time. Point of the matter is this. At the 1370 foot mark the Nova had the Viper by no more than a BUMPER. Too close for FIVE people that were standing there to tell. We were the agreed finish line by both parties. No one was at the 1320 foot mark to see who won but all five of us agreed after seeing how the Nova was pulling that the Viper was ahead at 1320 feet. 50 feet or 150 feet, it's still long. 50 feet is about 4 car lengths so it's not a short distance, especially when a race is so close. The winner of the race could not be determined so therefore Viper Guy's money should have been returned and a rematch setup for a certified marked out 1320 feet. My point is still clear. An out of town guy comes and and takes the word of a local that the points are measured to 1/4 mile so he assumes that is the case. Well it wasn't. Should be a rematch but we have a better chance in seeing God than Viper Guy getting his money back. This could probably be argued for years but I still say the Viper is undefeated in Tampa.
