i had this exact same problem i was just driving along and my tach freaked out and the car just died right in the middle of traffic. Anyway when i lookd under the hood and had my girlfriend crank the car sparks started flying from the little dropping ressitor cause it was just sort of laying around so i grounded i never had the problem again.
