Default I need electrical help

I have a little problem and hopefully someone can help me. So I've had my car about 4 months now with no issues at all, except the indash wouldn't hold time or play dvds no big deal to me I would fix it when I had time. Well this past week I found some time and decided to dive in, I had at a previous date discovered the harness had been hacked off and the HU wired directly into the wiring harness (Some people shouldn't be allowed to own cars...) Anyway so I had a 95 parts car and cut the harnesses off and went to splicing it back together had the wiring diagram and put the two together, then correctly used an aftermarket harness to wire up the HU, test it out everything works fine it holds time, plays dvd's whatever great! Go to drive it the next morning while it's still dark out and hit the headlights and now I have no cluster lights, the warning lights work, the blinkers work, the clock still works, just no back lighting so I can't see my gauges in the dark. Well the same f'n moron that put in the HU also installed a viper alarm, that as with the HU only half ass works doesn't have a horn just completely ghetto rigged it, I don't know anything about alarms so I left it alone, however today when I went back into the dash to try and sort out the backlighting I took the fuse out of the alarm since it "doesn't really do anything" (other than lock my keys in my car) and attempted to sort out the backlighting issue. I still can't figure out the backlighting issue, I honestly think it might be the cluster has gone back because there were two speaker wires coming from the back of the cluster and I have no clue what the went to the ground wasn't hooked up so I doubt it has anything to do with it but I have no clue, anyway my second problem is that now after screwing with all the crap I have, it starts rough, I have to give it gas to start it and it was NOT doing this before.

Sorry for the long drawn out post but I wanted everyone that is going to give input to know what I've done so they know where to start. Also I'm curious does anyone know of anyone who will replace the dash harness? I think with as much cutting that has been done on it, it would be worth it to pay someone to go in and take it apart and put it back together like stock. Thanks in advance to anyone who leaves a positive useful comment.
