That and Ford forgot to add the horsepower. Ford could own the pony car market again if they left the mustang alone other than adding forged rods and pistons. Imagine the money saved not changing the body style with the retooling and only added a decent rotating assembly. The car would be cheaper for the consumer, and the profit would be greater for Ford. The aftermarket would then fill the performance void creating new jobs.
But what do I know? Maybe better to print more money and throw it to GM.
