Unhappy Not good news

I spoke to my engine builder today, it appears that i will end up been down a bit longer

The Exhaust lifter on # 5 cylinder collapsed, causing the cam shaft to "smack" into the lifter, thus wearing a hole in the top of the lifter & subsequently damaging the cam lobe.

The bad part is, there are ZERO new camshafts about, there were only 5 sets of this lobe & duration ever made, & you guessed it, they are all in cars.

I have two choices, change the cam specs with some that are available & loose a bit of power, or send the damaged cam to be repaired (which I have done before), the only bad aspect of the later is the delay, it will end up been 4 weeks to repair the cam, I opted for the repair, be damned if I'm giving up in the HP Department!

The motor is also going to be stripped down completely once again, due to the fact there was oil contamination from the wearing of the lifter, my engine builder said that the motor will need to be cleaned thoroughly, so there we have it.

Guess I'll see you guys in the fall, I'll be @ the TR. event in September, but I'll not be in the ZR-1, just spectating.
