Dollar vs dollar,.. yes,. .the 5.0 will make more power. I find it humorous when I read guys putting forged internals into a stock block,.. be it a 347 or just a 306. Whats the point? The stock crank and rods will hold enough power to split the block. Its a waste of money IMO.
I havent kept up with it,.. but I know the 2v 4.6 motors dominated the 05 - 06 seasons vs the 5.0 motors,. even against their own 4v motors. IIRC the 07 season went to a 4v motor.

Internals: Pistons, rods, crank.
302s with nonforged pistons need forged pistons. Its that simple.
Crank will hold out longer than the block, usually. With a good Mexican block and some girdle work, maybe not.
Rods...eh, I dunno. Anyone know more about the threshold of the stock rods?
