3 PLAYERS SPORTS GROUP, INC. ANNOUNCES THE CONTEST
FORMAT FOR RACER TELEVISION PROGRAM
Tampa, Florida: 3 Players Sports Group, Inc. President Patrick J. Schaefer today announced the format for the new Reality Television program…RACER.
Contestants will participate in a 2-segment event as part of the RACER competition process. Segment 1 will consist of a 2-vehicle, side-by-side drag race which will be timed by track officials. At the end of that race and after the slow-down, drivers will make a turn onto an “auto cross” course set up parallel to the drag strip track and will be required to navigate a course consisting of traffic cones spaced at various intervals. Segment 2 will feature contestants on a timed, individual run through the auto-cross course and will NOT be run side-by-side. Drivers will be timed separately by track officials with time penalties being assessed for cones that are knocked over during the run. The combination of the drag race and auto cross times will be combined for an overall score. A tentative Agreement has been reached with a Tampa Bay area Race Track as the location for RACER events and a formal announcement naming that facility will be made as soon as the matter is formalized.
According to Schaefer, “We wanted the RACER television program to feature more than just a simple drag race. Even though we will have the vehicles competing in various classes depending on the type of car and engine, there will inevitably be situations where a more powerful car will be paired against one with less horsepower. Where the drag race is based on speed and power, the auto cross portion of the event requires more driving skills. Contestants who may not prevail in a 1 on 1 race down a asphalt straight-away, will quite possibly be able to make up lost time through superior driving skills demonstrated by navigating the auto cross course in a faster time than the more powerful vehicle.”
RACER, a new reality television show, combines two of the most popular on-air entertainment concepts – auto racing and reality television – to create an unmatched, action-packed 8 week TV series scheduled to air the second quarter of 2009.
