If it's bigger/wider than 640x480 then that's even better. And just a reminder, the video doesn't HAVE to be converted out of .mov.

It's not the file type that's getting HQ on YouTube, it's the size (640x480 +).

The only reason that I had to convert is because I don't know how to use Adobe Premiere, and for the simple editing I'm doing I'd rather not learn it. In order to use Windows Movie Maker the files have to be .avi or .wmv, so I figured to be safe and not loose quality I'd convert from .mov > .avi since AVI is supposed to be the best quality I believe .... then in the end, when I'm down editing, Windows Movie Maker outputs into a .wmv file, which works fine on YouTube as long as you keep the size of the video big like I said (640x480+)
