So I'm heading down I-275 in St. Pete this mornign headign to a job site in Sarasota in my 94 integra GSR. and i feel the car start to get a bit warmer...like the A/C has shut off. so I'm like WTF. look at the climate control to make sure i still have it on..adn it should be runnign...but no A/C. weird it hink to myself as i glance at the guage cluster...adn see the coolant temp guage PAST THE H!!!!
ARGHHH 1 mile to the 38th ave. N exit. clutch in, free rev the motor...no detonation at free rev...so she cant be that hot. fuck it, it drive on until the 38th ave exit. i smell no coolant, see no smoke, and am thinking the coolant temp sensor has gone bad. as i pull off on the exit ramp and come to a stop, i see a tiny whisp of steam coem out from under the hood.
(insert the "you loose" music from the price is right...or the you're dead music form 007 GOldeneye on N64)
so i call the office and inform them of the situation. they are very coola bout it adn my boss looks upa good towign company for me in the Phone book. "Elvis Towing" sounded good so i gave them a call. they'd have a truck out to me in under 45 minutes. Now luckily this was only a few miles from Secret Services so i told them to just tow it there. I start to investigate teh problem underhood and trace the problem to a ruptured thermostat bypass coolant line (a little 3/4" bastard). OK so i know i can fix it when i get it to the shop...i only hope i didnt damage the motor by driving it SO HOT.
so i'm chillin out waiting on the wrecker to come pick me up. he shows up and is a

....no surprise. he was very cool and asked what was up with the car. i told him I was "All Shook up" and didnt want to talk about it. he didnt get the reference to the name of the towing company....which made it all the more funny to me.
i get it back to the shop and we had a perfect repalcement hose sitting there brand new..left over from the work on Johns S-14. adn after fighting with crappy factory hose clams and having to find worm drive ones, i get it all back together. bleed and fill the coolant system. take it for a ride no problems. everything is in good shape. things COULD have been alot worse, considering how hot i got that little bastard!!
All i have to say is DAMN THOSE B SERIES MOTORS ARE TOUGH!!!! i cant believe i didnt kill anything else on it. this is only the 2nd time this car has ever left me stranded in the 196,000 miles that me and my dad have put on it. he bought it new in 94...and then i got it off of him in 96 with 32,000 miles on it. i have since proceeded to beat the living shit out of this car and it has rarely ever given me a problem!! GO honda!! the nissan may be faster...but i think i will probably always own a honda for a daily driver!!
so the cliffnotes:
drinking starbucks
blown coolant hose
elvis was oblivious
JDM hoseclamps suck
B Series rock the mic!!
