I like them because they have a "lip", then a large bowl shape before the spokes themselves.
You need a pic that size of just the wheel. You can barely see it in that photo!

I havent even looked at that thread. I know its full of gay ass mexican offsets where the wheel sticks out too much, the car is slammed on its nuts so that you cant run over a grain of sand without scraping, and the fenders rest on...not the tire, but the goddamn wheel itself, because the tire is far far too narrow for the wheel, but "stretched is cool and goddamn JDM"

Oh yeah, and negative camber to rival the Back to the Future DeLorean going into hover mode . Function in car parts is where I see beauty; for instance, aerodynamics, parts put on race cars with actual purpose etc. without looking gaudy. Too much lip/dish looks dumb, whereas when its necessary for a really wide wheel, you can make it stylish and add dimension by making it with a concave design.

Obviously I understand that this isnt always the best choice and some of the best racing wheels have big dumb lips too because they have to.

That being said, there were some BBS and Audi wheels that are ugly beyond excuses .
