Can't be the slave cylinder, if the slave or fluid were bad, the clutch would catch instead of slip. The slave is basically "dead" until fluid pressure is applied, in theory, you could drive the car with no fluid in the slave system, you just would have a hard time starting and stopping.
Sounds to me like you either have some oil on the clutch disc or the pressure plate has issues.
