GM did experiment w/ rotaries back in the late sixties... they made a 4 rotor stingray.
when you take the 13B-REW or the 13BT out of the rx7 and put in the LS1, its virtually the same... you get rid of the turbo/s, piping, intercoolers, etc. And then you have an All-aluminum motor w/o anything else on it, fluidyne radiator, electric fans, etc... you can keep the same weight... but you will have a little moer weight hanging over the front wheel centerline..
technically speaking, the RX7 was a MR format, not FR... at least the FC was anyhow. you loose that when swapping in the V8...
